There are a lot of ways to lose weight. I mean how do you think you got here?
The internet is filled with a lot of stuff on what can work to lose excess pounds. It is also very overwhelming.
But I actually believe every diet works!
That’s right! There is someone you know that tried a plan and they lost weight.
Now the biggest thing with that is, did it last?
In most cases, people aim to lose weight in a short amount of time, but they cannot maintain this for a long time.
For myself, I did a plant-based diet for a while, along with working out an hour almost every day. I lost a lot of weight.
Then I got pregnant, married, and started a high demanding job.
I could not keep up with the exercise plan, and my cravings changed to chicken and steak.
And not just regular chicken, FRIED chicken!
It has been over 5 years and I have tried several times to go back to no meat and have failed.
I stayed on a trend of over consuming fried food and refined carbs for so long, that I developed Type II diabetes.
When I was in the hospital for the onset, I was given a very general diet to follow and it was not that personal to my preferences. Just the general of low, to no sugar, and low salt.
It was boring!
Of course, I went right back to my unhealthy habits, and my diabetes got even worst.
Next time, I used a baby step approach to get healthy.
I changed out one of my meals and snacks for healthier options and gave myself a goal of drinking at least 20 oz of water a day and switching over to no sugar added juices and sodas.
I went on a walk 3 times a week for 30 minutes.
This was working for the first couple of weeks and encouraged me to do more.
It was important for me to enjoy what I was eating without feeling deprived.
Eventually, all my meals and snacks switched to healthier options, and I was only drinking water. I increased my exercise to walking an hour, 5 days a week, and doing aerobics 3 days a week.
On the weekends after a few months, I would eat what I want without looking at the contents or calories and get right back to healthy options and exercise during weekdays.
The weight does come off more slowly, I cannot lie. But, I feel the best I have in a long time.
It took some hit and misses, and years, but now I am in a place of having consistency in making better options.
