Abracadiet, It is Just Water

Growing up I hated water so much. I am talking about just plain water.
I only wanted blue raspberry Kool-Aid, soda, or juice as my beverage.
As I got older, I would maybe drink 1-2 glasses of plain water a day.
Then, I got kidney stones.
These things were worse than childbirth for me, I promise.
I was in so much pain, that I fell out on the hospital’s ER bathroom floor. And this was not the best area of town guys. EWWWWWW!
So since then, I make sure to drink lots of water. Well, I was still not drinking as much as I do now. But it was more than 1-2 glasses a day.
Today, I currently drink at least 100 ounces (3000 ml, 1 gallon) a day. And, if I miss a day my body knows it.
How?
Through my urine color.
The clearer your urine is, the better. Darker urine could be an indication of dehydration and other issues. You can look up urine color charts through your favorite search engine.
On some weekends I go crazy with too many cookies, or pizza and soda and I tell my family that Monday I am flushing my system. This is me drinking water all day along with vegetables and fruits that are great sources of water, like cucumbers and melons. It is my form of a soft detox.
On my journey to being able to drink just plain water, I loved the options of carbonated sodium-free water. It gave me the feeling of a soda, without all the sugar.
I also like adding lemon, and strawberries to my water for a little bit of flavor. But eventually, I just wanted plain room temperature water.
My sister who is a little older than me said this would happen.
She advised on her own journey with water, she started with carbonated options and then infused flavor, and eventually, she just wanted water, so much that soda made her sick.
I don’t think I am at that point because every now and then I want a nice root beer float. And I do not use sugar-free soda! No ma’am! Yuck!
Personally, I think you should just go ahead and have a can of regular soda. The sugar-free options are loaded with sodium and other ingredients I cannot even pronounce.
Just do not over do it.
Again, balance and moderation are key!
The only downfall I have seen in my gallon-a-day water drinking is the number of times I go to the bathroom.
On days, I was teaching at a school, I forewarn my students that I will have to go to the bathroom, so they had better behave while I was briefly away.
Please share below your journey of drinking more water throughout your day!
