Why do we make life harder by trying to do too much?
I think the biggest challenge is getting rid of stress.
Some people may argue that stress is just a part of life. I do not believe that.
Things that apply pressure may come, but it is how you handle the situation that will determine the impact of stress.
When I decided to leave a secure corporate job that paid well and literally go from a double income in my household to one, I knew I had to have a plan that would not cause stress.
The keyword was "plan."
I came up with an end date and worked towards making sure everything was in place for that date.
Did this date change?
Yes, several times.
Why? Because I thought I needed more money in my savings, or maybe I thought I was making a mistake and things were not that bad.
I was procrastinating on something I was prepared to do.
Now that, can lead to stress!
Why is the elimination of stress so important to me?
Because it can literally KILL YOU!
Stress is known to lead to pathophysiological complications in related diseases like those that affect your mental, cardiovascular, and gastrointestinal health.(cited)
Every day I must consciously find ways to destress.
This could be meditating on good things, taking a short walk, reading a portion of a book, or playing a simple word game online.
I also do breathing exercises with counting to and backward from eight.
An obvious destressing activity for me is writing these blog posts. HELLO!
Also, there is such a thing as good stress.
I know! I know! I have already written so much on eliminating stress, but I must point this out, people!
So, you know how you have situations where it is fight or flight.
Well, in those cases good stress kicks in, hence the term “survival mode.” (cited)
The main thing to take away from this post is that you should have less stressful times. Again, balance!
Please share below some things or methods you use to destress.
