I promise people are so quick to take a dietary supplement.

First of all, most of us are not even eating a balanced diet.

We need to evaluate our daily consumption first. Like, getting an understanding to determine if there is a connection between why you are tired after consumption of a specific food or group of foods.

Personally, I found out that I was eating too dang much in the middle of the day.

Sitting up here having a 15-piece wing special, extra-large fries, and a large lemonade.

Sometimes, I would have a whole restaurant serving of fried rice.

Then, there was self-diagnosing, thinking I needed a B12 supplement.

I had no clue, none!

Supplements and vitamins do not have the ability to give you more energy alone.

For example, if you only take a supplement and drink water all day, this would not be enough to keep you effectively functioning throughout the day.

It is important to know your daily energy needs.

An individual may be feeling fatigued more often and remedy this by drinking an energy drink with high amounts of Vitamin B12.

If this individual had only a bowl of cereal for breakfast, and 2 bags of potato chips for lunch and dinner, there may be a small spurt of energy 30 minutes to an hour after the energy drink is consumed. However, there will be a drastic reduction of energy later. This is because the individual does not have a balanced diet.

The key aspect of dietary supplements is the word itself “supplement.”

You should only take these if you are already participating in a balanced diet, and there is still a deficiency or lack of absorption of certain nutrients.

Keep a log of what you are eating, and how you feel 30 minutes to an hour after the meal.

Also, make note of your feelings throughout the day and right before bed, and if you are waking up during the night, or have a lack of sleep overall.

Be aware of what you are consuming in food and drinks first, and then determine if a dietary supplement is the best route for you.

Do your research.

What works for someone else may not be best for you. For example, green tea supplements have caffeine and can assist with energy, however, some people may not respond well to caffeine, and get jitters.

It is important to know your body and be aware of your personal nutrition first.

Please comment on what supplements you have tried and how they have worked.
